In short, when you install Spore you also install a program called Securom, which over-writes your operating system's core and disrupts the running of programs and system actions if certain conditions within the system are met. The real kicker? Even if you uninstall Spore, it stays in your computer's core and cannot be removed short of a complete computer wipe. Neither the game, the paperwork that comes with it, or EA's website makes any mention of this program, either.
I'm starting to think Johnny has the right idea with his blind EA hate.....
